Just get control of your own computer, and be careful where you get your downloads from - or stay a prisoner to your fears and 'protective' programs, and let them decide what you should and shouldn't do. Malwarebytes does an adequate job, and there are others. I've found most 'anti-virus' programs to be a waste of time. I personally hate the BitDefender program - but that's just me. You can, as someone below also stated, go into BitDefender's settings, and temporarily tell it to 'stop automatic scanning' or 'scan downloads.' I haven't used it in a long time, so I don't know exactly how this is worded, but you could always go to BitDefender's "Help" section, and find out how to stop it from killing your downloads.
If you are using any software that you"can't turn off" then you might as well have a virus - you aren't in charge of your own computer.
